Newfoundland Dog Rescue Day

July 8, 2011

Town Quay hosted a successful charity day in aid of ‘Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’. Brave volunteers raised money to plunge in to the marina to be rescued by Newfoundland dogs. The 14 stone dogs leapt out of a RIB to rescue “helpless” swimmers by towing them back to the boat.

A number of our berth holders took part and helped make the day the charity’s biggest event they have ever done in the South. 35 volunteers were booked in for the day, but another 15 jumps took place as generous spectators paid to take part in the spot! We hope to host the event again next summer time. The charity’s aim to raise £5000 was exceeded so thank you to all sponsors!
